Rogers Crane Exam Prep for Pinnacle Hills and Beyond
Drive I-49 through Rogers and the cranes tell you where the money is going. The Pinnacle Hills area, on the city's west side, has gone from pasture to a dense cluster of offices, hotels, apartments and retail, and local reporting in 2025 put cumulative development there at more than $3 billion over about 15 years. Arkansas Online Crane School is an online, self-paced way for Rogers operators, riggers and signal persons to get ready for the written exams of accredited crane certifications without stepping away from that work.
Building up, not just out
The newest landmark is The Visionaries, a four-story Hunt Ventures office development on J.B. Hunt Drive that held its ribbon-cutting in July 2026. Crossland Construction was general contractor, and construction took about two years; permits for the project totaled nearly $83 million. Nearby, The Plaza at Pinnacle Hills was announced in 2023 as a $110 million mixed-use project with more than 300 apartments, retail, a restaurant and a four-story parking garage, and Pinnacle Heights brings almost 300 apartment units over ground-floor retail, with hotels attached.
Projects like these put tower cranes and large hydraulic cranes on tight lots next to occupied buildings. Precast garage panels, structural steel, curtain wall and rooftop equipment each call for a lift plan, and the stacking of trades on a podium deck makes communication between operator, signal person and rigger the difference between a smooth day and a near miss.
Rebuilding after the 2024 storms
The storms and tornadoes of May 26, 2024 left damaged buildings across the Pinnacle area. One example: Savant Real Estate and Development announced in 2026 that it would invest $15 million to renovate a two-story, roughly 55,000-square-foot office building on Village Parkway that was hit that night, with completion targeted for early 2027.
Storm recovery work is different from new construction. Crews may be lifting off damaged structures, removing debris whose weight is a guess, or setting new roof equipment on framing that has been repaired. Estimating unknown loads conservatively, inspecting attachment points and using a load-indicating device where available are skills that show up on rigging exams for good reason.
Industry on the east side
Rogers isn't only offices. Bekaert, the Belgian steel wire company, runs a plant here, and much of the steel rod it uses arrives by barge at the port of Van Buren before going north by truck or rail. Manufacturing and warehouse work along the city's industrial corridors keeps maintenance riggers and boom truck operators busy with machine moves, racking and dock equipment.
- High-rise and garage work: tower crane operator
- Steel, precast and rooftop sets: mobile crane operator
- Plant moves and storm debris: Rigger Level II
- Directing any of the above: signal person
Rules, licensing and testing
There's no Arkansas crane operator license and we found no Rogers city license. Private construction follows federal OSHA's 29 CFR 1926 Subpart CC, enforced through the OSHA Little Rock Area Office, which requires accredited certification and an employer evaluation for operators plus qualified signal persons and riggers. See the requirements guide for the full picture.
You book written exams with the certifying body: online proctored, at a test center or at an event. The practical exam is a hands-on test on a crane at an accredited site. Studying online gets the theory solid; seat time gets you through the practical.
